The Supreme Name

I find the name Allah particularly striking when styled in beautiful Moroccan Darqawi script. I don’t know whether the script is Maghribi but it is often found in texts relating to the Shadhili-Darqawi-Alawi or Shadhili-Darqawi-Habibiyyah tariqas, amongst others.

I thought I would have a go at styling my own, basing it on a picture found on Google. I marked the centre point of my wall in pencil and began from there. It’s pretty basic, using permanent marker for the colour and getting those rounded edges right by using an old CD as a stencil. Here it is:

Alternatively, there’s Irada Arts who provide really stunning decals, including the Lafdh al-Jalala. Plus they’re great people. Highly recommended if you don’t want to go down the permanent marker route!!

Jazakum Allahu khayrun for the shout out. We’re actually coming out with a similar Lufdhul Jalala that you did but we’re quite not happy with it yet (our artists and calligraphers are quite picky with their work) but insha’Allah we’ll have it soon.

We do have another Maghribi-style Lufdhul Jalala that is ready for production and should be up within the next week or two. It’s quite nice, masha’Allah. Keep your eyes open for that one by checking out our products of Islamic wall decals here: http://www.IradaArts.com
