Shaykh Hamza Yusuf’s 2011 Eid al-Fitr Sermon

(If you’re interested in hearing further about the moon-sighting issue mentioned within the first 5 minutes of the lecture, please read this short essay – p.s. it’s not actually about cesarean births!)

On a separate note, I recently came across this on the 10th anniversary of 9/11:-

Muhammad Zakariya lives a few miles away from the Pentagon, and he was writing what is called a hilya in calligraphy from the Shifaof Qadi Iyad: a description of the Prophet by Umar ibn Al-Aws.

The sentence he was writing when he heard the [9/11] explosions was “Wa kana salla llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam la yadfa’u sayyi’ah bi sayyi’ah, wa lakin wa ya’fu wa yaghfiru: He would never repel an evil with another evil, but he forgave, and he condoned.” And that is our teaching.
